This charming town is perfect for a day trip from Seattle.
A mere 2 1/2 hours in the car will get you here. The drive is really a treat in itself, as you travel through the lush landscape of the Okanogan-Wenatchee Forest. Depending on the weather, there may even be some fresh snow to stop and play in on the way. As you arrive in Leavenworth you will be greeted with a beautiful display of Christmas lights adorning the beautiful Bavarian-style architecture. Stunning mountain vista views serve as the backdrop. You will really feel like you have traveled to another country!
My first stop
Is always somewhere to get food. Always. Leavenworth does not disappoint when it comes to plentiful options of authentic German fare. Last year we ate at Munchen Haus, which had the most beautiful "bier garten" to sit in. They had a HUGE selection of sausages and fun sauces to use.
Next, it's time to explore!
Leavenworth also boasts what I would consider, the MOST LEGIT SANTA store. It is called Kris Kringl and it made me feel like I had stepped back into my childhood magic and wonder of Santa Claus.
The Christkindl Markt
Is the closest experience you will find to a German Christmas Market in Europe. Walking around the streets of this beautiful city is sure to fill you with Holiday cheer and excitement.
